In-mold labeling technology (IML) is a new technology for placing labels in injection paint bucket mould to decorate the surface of the product. It is also a potential new labeling technology. We know there are hot runner and cold runner type in the injection bucket mould,but how to choose the runner type

Let’s review the technology

A cold runner is a simple channel carved into the mold. The raw material fills the cold runner and is then ejected with the part as a sprue after it cools. A hot runner system is more complicated, often using heaters to keep the plastic in the runners to be hot as the part cools. After the part is ejected, the plastic remaining in a hot runner is injected into the next part.

According to product material, product use, labor cost, etc,decide to use different runner type.

Per above 2 types of runner,left is hot runner with pin point gate,so usually no need to cut the gate after injection; the right one is cold runner with big gate, so we have to cut the gate after injection.

For iml round paint bucket mould,sometimes clients do the printing in heat transfer way,sometimes will do the printing in mold labeling,consider the different requirements of the surface treatment,we shall suggest clients to use reasonable mold steel.
