SEQUA®San Chitosan Wound Dressing
SEQUA®San Chitosan is derived from crab shells and is known for its bacteriostatic, haemostatic and degradable properties. Chitosan is well established as a safe material for use in several medical applications.
Chitosan wound dressing is a naturally formed starch (polymer) derived from the shells of crustaceans. It works by creating a positive charge, hence interacting with negatively charged molecules such as gram positive bacteria, blood cells, proteins and lipids. SEQUA®San Chitosan is a highly absorbent dressing made from natural biodegradable acylated chitosan fibres. The chitosan fibres turn into clear gel when in contact with wound exudates, promoting healing by locking the pathogens in.
